Settembrata Anacaperese (Anacapri September Event)

This is an annual September event focused on the Anacapri popular, folkloristic and enogastronomic traditions that attracts every year many tourists and inhabitants.

This has always been the grapes feast organised to recall the most important historical moments of this island, firstly through the opening parade made up by 300 participants dressed with handcrafted cloths and, secondly, through the identification of a specific theme that will characterize the 4 feasts that will take place in the 4 island districts: La Pietra, Le Stalle, La Porta and La Boffe.

The Settembrata Anacaprese is, in fact, a challenge among these four districts that should exploit all their organizational, aesthetical, and gastronomical abilities to win the competition. So every year they should represent a given theme according to their fancy. In order to do that, they organize an ornamental floats parade, gastronomical night events, and sport and abilities competition. The Settembrata Anacaprese involves all the local population even shops and private houses that will receive a prize respectively for the best shop window and for the most flowering balcony.

Gastronimical preparations during the Settembrata

The traditional opening parade is dedicated to the most important war event occurred in this island: the arrival in Anacapri of the Gioacchino Murat troops that conquered the island. The importance of this battle is testified by the inscription of the name of Caprae on the Triumphal Arch in Paris.
