On the 10th of August Florence celebrates San Lorenzo. For this occasion a traditional historical parade of the Florentine Republic crosses all the urban streets: the most important stops are at the Piazza della Signoria and at the San Lorenzo Basilica.

In the Basilica there is the consignment of the traditional banner called the “Gonfalone” and there is also the ceremony of the “Offer of the Candles” (Offerta dei Ceri) followed by the blessing of the city.
Other than the religious traditions, there are also the popular and the lay celebrations that have been preserved until now with the free distribution of lasagne and of watermelon offered by the Association “Caleidocentro” Market. At night in many squares you can enjoy gastronomic tastings and music performances.
Moreover during this special day every year it is possible to have free access to the Medici’s Chapels Musem where you will enjoy guided tours in various languages.
