The superior façade of this church was made in 1458 thanks to a plan by Leon Battista Alberti. Watching this monument you can see how the Alberti’s solution harmonically mixes the Gothic style, that characterizes the pre-existing inferior part of the façade, with the Renaissance style of the new superior part. From an architectonical point of view it is very important to note the innovative implementation of the two lateral marble vaults that cover the connections among the lateral aisles and the central nave.
