Medici-Riccardi Palace, external view
This palace was built during the XVth century by Michelozzo Michelozzi for the Medici family. Then it was purchased by the Riccardi family that enlarged it. At the beginning of the XIXth century the Italian State became the owner of this building that is now the seat of the prefecture of Florence.
It’s courtyard is characterized by porches ornamented with engraved medallions. It seems that some of its windows were made by Michelangelo.

From this courtyard you can arrive to the Chapel ornamented with a fresco representing the trip of the Magi by Benozzo Bozzoli. Here you can visit the Medici’s Museum where you can find many artistic objects belonging to this big Florentine family: there are works by Bronzino and by Filippo Lippi. You can finally admire the gallery ornamented with frescos by Luca Giordano.
