From the 7th to the 10th of December
In Milan the Immaculate Conception Feast (on the 8th of December) is particularly loved by inhabitants because it occurs just a day after the Sant’Ambrogio Feast.
On the 7th of December, in fact, Milanese people celebrate their Patron Saint spending their free time purchasing their first Christmas gifts in the historical “Obej Obej” Fair: this is a traditional Christmas market visited every year by a great number of people and organized all around the Sant’Ambrogio Basilica.

The “Obej Obej” Fair
The origin of the name “Obej Obej” dates back to the arrival in this city of the Pope’s delegate who brought many gifts for local children who accepted all those presents by saying “Oh bej! Oh bej!” (a dialect joyful expressions that means “oh very nice, very nice”).
This fair will take place from the 7th to the 10th of December in the Sforzesco Castle where you can find a great number of stands selling toys, typical desserts and food, antiques, flowers, and every kind of knick-knacks.
