The Montecchi family’s house is not so far from that one belonging to Juliet.

Among the most typical medieval residences this is the most magnificent and the best preserved one. This imposing construction is characterized by a gothic porch and by a crenellated courtyard where there is the entry of the house. At the left side of this entry there is the step used to reach the upper floors characterized by Romanesque, gothic and renaissance windows.

This home can’t be visited but some of its rooms are part of the contiguous restaurant. On this construction’s façade there is this inscription that recalls the love story between Romeo and Juliet: “Tut, I have lost myself; I am not here; This is not Romeo, he’s some other where.” (Romeo and Juliet – Act 1, Scene 1, William Shakespeare).
