The Maschio Angioino

The Maschio Angioino, overview
It was built near the harbour during the XIII century becoming the symbol of the d’Angiò family power and also an important cultural centre that welcomed many national artists and intellectuals like Giotto, Petrarca and Boccaccio. Its original architectonical structure was successively enriched by the Aragona family that added two towers and a magnificent arch of triumph. Another very interesting thing to see in this castle is its Palatina Chapel.
